Stan Getz & Luiz Bonfà - ‘Jazz Samba Encore!’
These days the weather sucks, actually it seems that spring doesn’t want to come out this year.
Hope this brazilian post will turn to be a good omen.
After Martini&Jopparelli laid over in Rome for the brazilintime (we’re still waiting for more details about that) event, i want to give you a taste of what a “jazzilian” sample is like.
Stanley Gayetzky, usually known as Stan Getz or “The Sound”, was a notable jazz saxophone player and a central figure in Bossa Nova.
Maybe we’ll need to add it in the category cloud as a new genre embraced by the blog.
There’s an infectious, joyous, Latin-tinged lilt to the tunes, which inspires Getz to some of the best playing of his career. His tone retains the “cool” by which he’s been characterized–but he blows hot, to.
Usually i don’t listen to brazilian-oriented music, but this is something different…hoping the sun will finally peep out.
